The first flat

The young couple, who has finally managed to live on their own, must face big challenge- arrange their first flat in a practical way but also in a way which suits the aesthetical tastes of both partners.
In this case the interior design should be well- thought over because the decision which is being made at this moment is going to carry some long-term effects.

In fact, the first flat is realization of loving couple’s dreams. Therefore, it should be the place where they feel good but at the same time when they can keep all their indispensable personal possessions taken from family homes.

The first flat is usually not so big. Consequently, each room must be functional and practical. However, we must not forget to maintain proper interior atmosphere so as to combine ”business with pleasure”.

If the couple likes spending their free time watching films or drinking their favourite coffee, it is necessary to purchase a lounge suite. It is also a great solution if they plan to host family or friends on regular basis. Cosy atmosphere is created by means of decor elements. However, it is not advisory to exaggerate with the amount of decoration. In fact, they should be selected according to the colour, preferably warm colours of soil.

The bedroom is an oasis of peace for the couple, escape from the mundane matters and problems. Therefore, it should be arranged in accordance with their common ideas and fantasies, in a romantic and harmonious way. Romantic light would be crucial there as well as effective window design.

While arranging the first flat, you often deal with a search for various practical solutions which can save some space in your flat, make it optically bigger or take advantage of seemingly useless corners.

In the kitchen it is worth to choose the worktop instead of table because it can lengthen for example window sill. Then, you can put some stools or bar chairs at it.
If the living area does not allow you to arrange bedroom separately and living room plays its role, it is good to purchase an unfolded sofa with spacious drawer for the bedclothes in it.
Whole household equipment must have its place in the flat, the best idea is to put it into the hall wardrobe.

How to reconcile two completely different visions of flat arrangement? Obviously, the solution to be found must satisfy both sides. It may be a compromise which means that one person allows his/her partner to choose the colour of the walls but later on he/she would be free to select window design or colour of furniture. Another option for reconciling different ideas is to arrange two separate rooms independently. For example, one person tackles with the kitchen and another with the bathroom. Nevertheless, the best solution is to arrange the whole flat together so that both partners feel good in each room. At times, it is better to turn a blind eye to the advice given by the loved ones - it is our own flat, anyway! Let’s arrange it in a way we have been dreaming of!
